This video was made by "stacking" images taken from the International Space Station and then, apparently, processing them so they would run smoothly as a video. Although frame stacking is a common practice in both astrophotography and HDR photography, I am not clear how it was applied here -- the explanation at Vimeo by the Christoph Malin, the principal creator, is too cryptic, though I assume it involved registering and overlaying video sequences. Some of the photos or underlying video are from astronaut Don Pettit, whose incredible photos I posted on before.
