Via Colossal, the work of Catherine Nelson, an Australian artist who digitally manipulates hundreds or thousands of photographs to create new "worlds." Her completed works are huge -- each piece is about a meter on a side -- and (from what I can see through the magic of the internet) gorgeous.
Nelson's work is a response to the fact that single photographs are limited by the frame of the shot. She blends photographs, creating a sort of 360° image but in the round -- a fictional world. She describes her work as painterly, yet I think her work is much more like a visual poem than a painting.
