Preparing for the End of the World at In Focus

From The Atlantic's In Focus, a few excerpts from a series of photos on "preppers" -- people preparing for the end of the world, though not particularly the supposed Mayan apocalypse.







Travelers to the Pic du Bugrach in southern France -- the so called upside down mountain because (due to an overthrust) the geology of the top of the mountain is older than the bottom of the mountain. Some believe aliens live under the mountain, there and a large numbers of believers in a coming apocalypse live around the mountain.
