Fake online reviews make relying on online reviews sort of dicey, to say the least. An
article at the
New York Times points out that positive and negative reviews are often bought (they go for $5 to $10 a pop), and points to
work of Cornell researchers analyzing how to tell the difference.
I've looked over both articles -- the one in the New York Times and the one by the Cornell Team, as has my wife and children -- and we were not very impressed! :(
I still can't tell what reviews are real!
